DECEMBER 17, 2007 -- FibreSpan (search for FibreSpan), a UK-based network carrier that specializes in dedicated dark fiber and ultra-high bandwidth network services, has announced hand-over of a point-to-point LAN extension to a top-tier international investment bank, head-quartered in the City of London.

The customer is relocating senior staff during a three-year redevelopment project at its headquarters and needed to quickly and simply extend its existing communications network, comprising both fiber and copper technologies, recalls FibreSpan.

FibreSpan says its experience in deploying dark fiber and high-bandwidth networks, direct site-to-site network design, and expertise in managing bandwidth has enabled it to plan and implement services between the two sites utilizing a combination of dark fiber, copper, and CAT5 technologies.

"This was the ideal solution for this customer and complements our core competency of providing dark fiber solutions," contends Robert Bicket, chief executive of FibreSpan. "Whilst we specialize in providing all-fiber solutions to customers, our technical and customer service teams are experienced in providing a complete range of network services."

FibreSpan's dark fiber offering is ideal for banks, investment firms, and trading firms where high-performance, resilience, and control is absolutely critical. It provides dedicated point-to-point connectivity and a fixed price unlimited bandwidth model--a future-proof fit for a rapidly changing environment, says the company.
