MFS and WFI to collaborate on western backbone

Worldwide Fiber Inc. (Vancouver, BC, Canada) has entered into an agreement with MFS Network Technologies Inc. (the network service group of Able Telcom Holding Corp.) to develop a multi-conduit fiber-optic backbone network between Denver, CO, and Salt Lake City, UT. The project is a part of Worldwide Fiber's east-west network corridor expansion between Chicago, IL, and Sacramento, CA. The total projected budget for the development is in excess of $100 million.

The project is a part of Worldwide Fiber's east-west network corridor expansion between Chicago, IL, and Sacramento, CA. The total projected budget for the development is in excess of $100 million.
Work will begin immediately and is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2000. Both companies will own 50% of the network and will co-market the facilities.
