Focus on latency, resiliency
Astounds new fiber path is designed to deliver a lower-latency option for services between New York and the Ashburn/Washington corridor by avoiding traditional congestion points near Philadelphia and urban areas of New Jersey.
This provides enterprises and media networks with a faster, more resilient backbone for mission-critical applications, including large datasets and capacity-intensive media assets.
Besides Astound’s direct customers, this benefits the broader ecosystem by providing additional capacity and an alternate route for large data centers in Ashburn, Washington, D.C., and New York City.
Enhancing business services leadership
Just as Astound finalizes this route, it is enhancing its sales leadership by promoting Koss as president of Astound Business Solutions sales.
In this role, Koss will lead all sales channels and sales engineering functions for Astound Business Solutions across the United States, with a focus on helping customers solve complex network challenges through custom-built solutions.
Koss previously served as Senior Vice President of Business Solutions at Astound, where he oversaw commercial strategy and helped expand the company’s presence in key markets, including subsea, data center, media, and enterprise connectivity.
He has over two decades of experience building and operating networks and a strong track record of developing high-performing teams.
Earlier, he led centralized operations and later commercial operations at Wave, which ultimately became part of Astound.
Patrick Knorr, Chief Commercial Officer for Astound Business Solutions, said Koss’s “promotion to President of Sales reflects both his impact on our growth to date and our confidence in his ability to guide our commercial fiber business to new heights.”
