ZTE: Leading Practices of HCF System in Multiple Scenarios

Feb. 12, 2026

In July 2025, ZTE partnered with China Mobile to bring a hollow-core fiber (HCF) connection into service, enabling cross-border financial transactions between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. During the trial, ZTE and China Mobile achieved a single-wavelength connection with a delivered throughput of 114.9 Tbit/s, with a very low average loss of 0.085dB/km. The service provider has deployed 8.7 kilometers of HFC to test ultra-low-latency transmission and data center interconnection. One of the key attractions of HCF is ultra-low latency – around 30% below traditional fiber – and low-loss capabilities that can support latency-sensitive scenarios such as high-frequency trading and fast data center networking.

Judge’s comment: “ZTE is a leader in hollow core fiber innovation, pioneering the future of this vital technology.”
