Huawei: Communication Network Integrating Telecom & Quantum Encryption

Huawei’s Communication Network Integrating Telecom and Quantum Encryption Solution, based on the OptiXtrans E6600 series, demonstrates the convergence of quantum technology and optical transport.
Feb. 12, 2026

In collaboration with China Southern Power Grid Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau, Huawei has built an all-optical communication network that integrates telecom and quantum encryption in the power industry, based on OptiXtrans E6616, providing communication protection for critical power supply links of the 15th National Games for People with Disabilities. The solution reuses existing fiber and equipment, and leverages board-level quantum encryption modules to enable zero service modification and low-cost deployment, supporting high-security, highly reliable real-time services such as telecontrol, intelligent terminals, and video conferencing. It meets long-term security requirements against quantum computing attacks and sets a new benchmark for intrinsic security in power communications. By integrating quantum security directly into the optical transport infrastructure, the OptiXtrans E6600 series empowers customers to build future-proof, ultra-secure all-optical networks, protect critical infrastructure, reduce long-term O&M costs, and unlock new revenue opportunities in high-security sectors.

Judge’s comment: “The QKD hardware is integrated with its transmission gear, an improvement compared to other approaches.”
