ZTE: World's 1st 1.6Tbps Transmission on 12THz DWDM Live Network

In February 2025, Türk Telekom collaborated with ZTE Corporation to complete the world's first 60 1.6Tbps ultra-high-speed transmission trial on a DWDM live network in Istanbul. This achievement enabled 170km of regenerationless transmission of 400GE/800GE services for trans-Eurasian connectivity using ZTE's 1.6 Tbps OTN solution in Istanbul’s live network environment. Leveraging a 12THz (C+L band) ultra-wide DWDM optical system with 60 1.6Tbps channels, ZTE’s solution achieved 800GE/400GE service transmission over 170km without regenerators. Compared with previous solutions, it doubles capacity while reducing per-Gbit power consumption by 25%.

Judge’s comment: “Service providers that serve data centers with high-capacity lit services like wavelengths could find utility in ZTE's Flex Shaping 3.0 technology, which supports 400G to 1.6Tbps, adapting to metro/inter-provincial connections while guaranteeing 400GE to 1.6TE transmission between data centers.”
