Summary

As wireless operators build out 5G wireless networks, optical technologies offer the benefit of being a sustainable solution for the transport segment of 5G and emerging generations because of their features such as secure data transmission and high capacity. This webinar will discuss how optical and transport networks are evolving to support the needs of emerging 5G wireless networks. We’ll explore new network architectures and the role of optical transceivers in radio access and data centers. The webinar will also address how wireless operators and their wholesale wireline partners leverage various technologies, including WDM and PON.

Joe Mocerino oversees solutions strategy and marketing for the Fujitsu 1FINITY, and 5G Transport including Smart xHaul and Edge Networking Packet Optical Portfolios. He has written numerous whitepapers and served in speaking roles for telecom and HFC forums, currently focusing on 5G Transport Optical Networking. He has a 35-year track record in product line management, marketing, business development, sales, engineering and manufacturing. Joe's technology expertise includes Packet Optical xHaul,  CPRI/eCPRI, ROADM, OTN, WAN/mesh networks, and CATV headend optics platforms.
Reza Vaez-Ghaemi, PhD

VIAVI Solutions
Reza has held positions in research, engineering, marketing, and management in the telecommunications industry in Germany and the United States. He is responsible for research in 5G xhaul transport and synchronization networks. He also serves as the vendor Co-Chair at O-RAN Xhaul Transport Working Group. He received his BS, MS, and PhD in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from Technical University of Berlin (Germany).
