INDATEL selects Cyan for 100G upgrade

INDATEL, a collaboration among wholesale carriers targeting rural and metro America, will use Z-Series packet-optical transport platforms (P-OTP) and the Blue Planet software-defined networking (SDN) platform from Cyan (NYSE: CYNI) to enable delivery of 100-Gbps services.

INDATEL members, many of whom are independent rural telecom service providers, collectively operate the Rural Ethernet eXchange (REX), which leverages their 80,000 route miles of fiber-optic network infrastructure deployed across the U.S. Use of the Z-Series will add 100-Gbps transport capabilities to the combined network; the Blue Planet SDN platform will enable INDATEL members to flexibly and efficiently provision that capacity for their carrier and enterprise customers.

"Our members operate high-capacity networks that require reliable and high-bandwidth transport connectivity," said Max Huffman, COO, INDATEL. "Cyan's scalable 100G solution, including the Z-Series and the Blue Planet SDN platform, allow us to aggregate their traffic more quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively for network applications. The increased transport capacity enables us to better deliver services across the Rural Ethernet eXchange and supports our goal to provide a seamless network throughout rural and metro communities across America."
