May 20, 2005 Stockholm, Sweden -- Broadcast Service Danmark (BSD) has contracted Net Insight for the construction of a nationally-sponsored digital terrestrial TV (DTT) network in Denmark. According to a press release, with an order value above SEK 10 million, the network will employ the company's Nimbra platform, and will reach every household in the country. The equipment will be delivered during Q2 of 2005.

Using optical fiber and microwave links, the platform will route TV signals from national and regional broadcasters to transmitter masts located throughout the country. The company says its platform can transport any combination of voice, video, and data using optimal network capacity, securely multicasting broadcast-quality TV signals parallel to data and voice services.

BSD is responsible for the analog and digital distribution of TV and radio in Denmark, and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the two Danish public service broadcasters, DR and TV 2/DANMARK. In arranging the contract, BSD acted on the two broadcasters' behalf.

"We have gone through an extensive competitive bidding process and chosen Net Insight's solution, since it combines the most efficient technical solution for DTT and broadcast contribution with an attractive price and the most competitive operational costs," comments Finn Sondergaard Pedersen, CEO of BSD.

"This is our third order for a DTT network in a short period of time," adds Tomas Duffy, CEO at Net Insight. "It confirms that we have a very strong solution at a time when many countries are implementing DTT."

With DTT, digital TV signals are transmitted from terrestrial masts to digital TV receivers in homes. Benefits of the technology include low operational costs, high picture quality, and the ability to transmit up to four times more TV channels than analog terrestrial TV, on the same frequency range.
