The FW312 automatic fiber-optic fusion splicer achieves an average splice loss of 0.016 dB with matched singlemode fiber. Loss estimates are accurate within 0.02 dB, 90% of the time. The process, including fiber cleaning, alignment, gapping, fusion, and loss estimation, typically takes 35 sec. Other features include lockable case latches and user-friendly software. All accessories and parts--built-in heat-shrink oven, precision cleaver, RS-232 data port, battery, charger, power cord, cleaning materials, electrodes, canned air, manual, and fiber stripper--come in the self-contained ruggedized case.
