OCTOBER 23, 2009 -- RAD Data Communications announced at Supercomm 2009 (Chicago, IL; Oct. 21-23) that Network USA, a service provider with a 2,500-mile fiber network that traverses most of Louisiana and parts of Texas and Mississippi, has deployed RAD's Ethernet-over-SONET/PDH turnkey system to provide enterprise customers with managed Ethernet services.
The system -- from the EtherAccess product line -- consists of the Egate-100 central site aggregation device, along with members of RAD's RICi product family that serve as bookends at the customer premises. The RICi product family enables Network USA to provide anywhere from a single T1 (1.5-Mbps FDX) to up to 16 bonded T1s for larger bandwidth requirements, or even dual bonded T3 capacities.
The Egate-100 and RICi products incorporate a consistent interoperable feature set and conform to the prevailing industry standards for Ethernet service provisioning, performance monitoring, and service-level agreement (SLA) assurance. With the advice and assistance of KGP Logistics, a key distributor of RAD products, Network USA selected the system based on its Layer 2 effective simplicity, its broad scalability, and the ROI proposition.
"One of the things we like about RAD's solution is that it offers us an affordable solution to quickly extend our managed Ethernet services to customers who were otherwise unreachable without costly network build-outs or due to unavailable facilities (fiber)," says Matthew Amy, Network USA senior network engineer.
He continues, "We also didn't want to take on the complexity of implementing MPLS throughout our entire access network, and this solution gives us all of the functionality we require with minimal capital outlay."
