Lucent, Movaz further metro DWDM pact

May 8, 2006 Murray Hill, NJ and Atlanta, GA -- Expanding upon an existing joint development agreement, Lucent Technologies and Movaz Networks have formed a collaboration to streamline the production and deployment of the companies' jointly developed metro DWDM optical networking platforms.

May 8, 2006 Murray Hill, NJ and Atlanta, GA -- Expanding upon an existing joint development agreement, Lucent Technologies and Movaz Networks have formed a collaboration to streamline the production and deployment of the companies' jointly developed metro DWDM optical networking platforms.

According to a press release, under terms of an agreement, to accelerate product delivery for both Lucent's Metropolis Wavelength Services Manager (WSM) and the Movaz RAYexpress optical platform, Lucent will now manage elements of Movaz's supply chain operations, including key component purchases, product manufacturing, and customer delivery requirements.

"Lucent and Movaz have enjoyed a fruitful collaboration for more than two years now, and now we are expanding that collaboration to enable our respective customers to enter new markets and expand their service offerings much more quickly," comments Ken Wirth, president and general manager of Lucent's Multimedia Networking Solutions business unit. "This agreements helps us do both."

"The relationship with Lucent has enabled Movaz to extend its versatile products to a much broader customer base," adds Bijan Khosravi, chairman and CEO of Movaz Networks. "By leveraging Lucent's significant expertise and well-established systems and processes in supply chain management and high-volume production, we will now be able to reduce the cost and complexity involved in producing our products, while at the same time speeding up delivery to our customers."

The companies' DWDM platforms are deployed by service providers to deliver optical bandwidth directly to customers' premises, as well as meet to infrastructure wavelength needs for metro access, inter-office, and regional applications.
