AUGUST 16, 2010 -- Chip maker PMC-Sierra, Inc. (NASDAQ:PMCS) and Incognito Software, a provider of broadband provisioning software, have announced a live demonstration of an EPON provisioning approach that combines their capabilities. The two companies will illustrate how their expertise can provide cable operators with end-to-end management capabilities and enable FTTx deployments at the PMC-Sierra booth during the CableLabs Summer Conference in Keystone, CO, from August 15-18, 2010.

As the demand for higher bandwidth services continues to grow, PON technology is being evaluated as an efficient method of driving fiber deeper into the networks, the companies say. The combination of PMC-Sierra’s high-speed standard-compliant EPON and 10G EPON silicon and Incognito Software’s Broadband Command Center, a device provisioning software tool, will help enable these EPON deployments at a lower cost, using existing provisioning standards, the companies assert.

The joint demonstration will demonstrate 1G and 10G EPON technology with a focus on network management, quality of service (QoS), and service assurance for a DOCSIS environment.

“We continue to strengthen our position as the dominant FTTH silicon solution provider addressing the EPON, GPON, 10G EPON, and XG-PON markets, and we are working with partners like Incognito to bring this expertise to the MSO space,” said Raphael Sankar, vice president and co-general manager of PMC-Sierra’s FTTH division. “This demonstration, along with our MSO management software suite, shows our commitment to this growing market.”

"Broadband Command Center addresses the needs of all forms of access networks," said Chris Busch, CTO of Incognito Software. "We are pleased to be working together with PMC-Sierra to enable dynamic provisioning of PON ONU terminals. Our BCC provisioning solutions ensure customers' ability to deploy fiber based access networks."
