Infinera (NASDAQ: INFN) said that is has supplied international fiber-optic network service provider RETN with the Infinera XT-3300 and FlexILS to scale network capacity for its international wholesale and enterprise customer base.

Connecting 34 countries across Europe, Asia, and North America, RETN's fiber backbone network covers 33,000 km. The network runs on Infinera's DTN-X (see "RETN upgrades pan-European fiber-optic network with Infinera DTN-X"). In 2017, Infinera supplied its XT-500, and Cloud Xpress to RETN. The provider used the packet transport systems in its Western European fiber network connecting Frankfurt, Munich, and Vienna (see "RETN upgrades regional fiber network with Infinera Cloud Xpress").

According to Infinera, RETN is now is adding the Infinera XT-3300 and FLexILS to connect Scandinavian countries to Russia across one of RETN's primary backbone routes. RETN can maximize its optical network's transmission capacity by more than tripling fiber capacity with the XT-3300, and can activate and pay for capacity easily with Infinera Instant Bandwidth, the company attests. Instant Bandwidth will enable RETN to advance time-to-revenue and decrease ownership costs.

To extend the capacity of Europe's densestroutes throughout RETN's network, further deployment of Infinera's Intelligent Transport Networks platforms will be completed in 2018, Infinera says.

"The Infinera XT-3300 and FlexILS are performing better than advertised," said Ilya Nikishin, RETN chief technical officer. "It makes a big difference when you have such a reliable business partner to provide innovative and manageable products. The Infinera solution was easy for our team to install and we can quickly deliver a premium experience to our customers improving their connectivity across Europe up to the border of China and further."
