Passive components

This family of passive components includes optical filters, optical isolators, wdm and wbc couplers, planar waveguide devices (pwds), fiber Bragg gratings, and dispersion-compensating fiber modules. The optical isolators feature a reduced isolator size of 28 mm in length and 4.2-mm maximum width, which has been made possible by the use of gif collimator technology. The planar waveguide devices are couplers that use a lightwave circuit to achieve up to 16 output ports in a smaller package size than standard fused couplers, according to the manufacturer. The pwds have directivity and return losses of 50 dB. The fiber Bragg gratings feature temperature-compensating packaging designed to eliminate wavelength shift during temperature variations.
