Colt deploys ADVA FSP 3000 for HD video connectivity
ADVA Optical Networking (FSE: ADV) says Colt Technology Services used the ADVA FSP 3000 to support Germany’s largest film festival, enabling over 400 screenings to more than 300,000 ticket buyers and 20,000 professionals from the international film community. ADVA Optical Networking provided the FSP 3000 to power a 10-Gbps backbone link supporting high-definition (HD) video distribution to over 40 screens connected to a fiber-optic network provided by Colt.
“The expectations in terms of application performance simply do not get higher. This is a world-class event that draws film lovers from all over the globe, so the requirements for transmission of HD video are uncompromising,” said Christian Kläsener, regional sales director, Colt. “What’s key about ADVA Optical Networking is that its team has a strong track record of working in a broadcast environment. They know what’s at stake and how to transport the video data where it needs to be.”
More than 90% of the movies screened at the film festival were of diverse digital-video formats. The ADVA FSP 3000 uses WDM to enable high-performance transport for any traffic protocol, including the HD video signals. The ADVA FSP 3000’s low latency modules are optimized for enterprise applications that ensure a high-quality experience for consumers of time-sensitive applications such as video, the company adds.
“Working with Colt on this project has been one of our most exciting challenges, especially when you consider what’s involved,” said Hartmut Müller-Leitloff, vice president sales Central Europe, ADVA. “The film festival had an audience of over 300,000 passionate film fans intent on a great cinematic experience. We knew we had to deliver. Thankfully, our team has been developing some of Europe’s most advanced broadcast networks over the past few years and we used all of our skills to ensure a seamless event.”
