Electro-absorptive modulated laser

The E2580 electro-absorptive modulated laser for 10-Gbit/sec applications operates at 1.5 microns and can be selected by wavelength as per the ITU grid. The device features excellent wavelength stability, extinction ratio, and bandwidth, according to the manufacturer. It features an integrated driver IC that simplifies the impedance-matching issues associated with 10-Gbit/sec designs. The laser is available in a 13-pin package, which also has a GPO 50-ohm RF input connector. It can be used for central office applications (0° to 70°C) and can be specified for 40- or 80-km applications.
