South Reach Networks preps 400G services as it expands its Southeast U.S. fiber network
South Reach Networks (SRN) has provided details of an ongoing expansion of its Southeast U.S. fiber network. The upgrade initiative will affect metro and long-haul infrastructure from Atlanta to Miami via Jacksonville. SRN hopes to have 15 data centers connected to the expanded fiber network by the fourth quarter of this year.
The fiber network upgrades include the installation of optical transport equipment that will enable delivery of 10G, 100G, and 400G Ethernet and wavelength services. SRN also plans to bring its fiber to several cable landing stations in the region to link data centers to submarine cable systems that provide routes to the Caribbean and Latin America. The network operator also is targeting MDU and HOA groups along its fiber network in Florida as well as business customers. SRN also has plans to offer its fiber infrastructure to support 5G mobile network deployments in the state.
“In particular, the Central Florida Coast has been a growth area for these types of communities that are often underserved in terms of options for diverse fiber and the services that our infrastructure supports,” commented Kevin Rocks, executive vice president, sales and marketing for SRN. “Many of these communities in Florida are demanding network upgrades to existing facilities to offer the same services as new developments day one.”
