Kylia offers ultra-fast DPSK demodulator

NOVEMBER 20, 2007 -- Kylia (search for Kylia) has debuted an ultra-fast version of its mint-1x2 DPSK demodulator.

A piezo actuator ensures a time constant of 0.1 sec for compensation of very quick signal frequency variation. The company says that, by comparison, current market offerings propose time constants not shorter than 5 sec.

The ultra-fast version of its modulator will be offered in the same package as standard DSPK demodulators: 50x42x12 mm. The standard tunable mint-1x2 is controlled by a voltage of 0-5 V to actively tune the delay. For both tunable versions, the delay tuning allows a frequency shift of one free spectral range. Kylia says the mint-1x2 shows an impressive accuracy along the entire C-Band. Finally, the ultra-fast version inherits from the mint-1x2 family an optical path delay between receiving ports of 0.1 psec. Thanks to its very low PDFS, the combination of two mint-1x2s is an ideal candidate for DQPSK demodulation, the company concludes.
