MARCH 2, 2009 -- Pangaea Networks (search Lightwave for Pangaea Networks), niche provider of carrier-class Metro Ethernet transport services in the New York City and New Jersey markets, today announced the launch of its PANMetro Ethernet service, which is available to approximately 700 new commercial Enterprise buildings throughout the region. This launch extends Pangaea's existing footprint throughout Manhattan and New Jersey to locations where fewer Ethernet alternatives are currently available, say company representatives.

"PANMetro Ethernet [provides] carriers and their enterprise customers an alternative platform to connect with one another within a carrier-class environment that delivers QoS [quality of service] and supports QinQ [queue-in-queue technology] over a dedicated bandwidth infrastructure," reports Kevin Black, vice president of business development at Pangaea Networks.

"Network Diversity and Rapid Installation Intervals are the key deliverables that are expected from both carriers and enterprise customers in Tier 1 markets," he continues. "By effective utilization of the Ethernet Network to Network Interface (NNI), Pangaea has mitigated many of the risk factors that had previously contributed to delayed installation intervals to deliver a service with full bandwidth availability to the customer in an accelerated timeframe."
