Something Old, Something New . . . in the First Quarter BONUS 2000!
As champions to fiber-optic connectivity LIGHTWAVE has long sought after and served those individual with money, bandwidth need, and the technological where-with-all to pony up to the fiber-optic pipeline.
Telecommunication giants have long used fiber for the long-haul.
Military, R&D and utilities have been in loop for some time as well.
Other massive data-communication requirements in government including state universities and other large education facilities have also been in fiber`s fold.
Now comes a new important growth arena for fiber-optic connectivity... From New York and New Jersey, to Illinois and California, governments are partnering with private interests to build state of the art fiber-optic networks.
Entrepreneurial public access & exchange carriers need rights of way before they can build anything.
Governmental transportation authorities need advanced communications infrastructure for electronic toll collection, video law enforcement, traffic information management systems and more.
So deals get made between highway authorities and private communications companies to leverage assests and investment to satisfy their respective needs.
Speaking at the recent KMI conference in Newport, Rhode Island, Kevin P. Moersch, President and CEO of MFS Technologies, talked about MFS`s recently negotiated contract with The Illinois State Toll Highway to undertake a co-development project to design, build, and maintain a high-speed 276 mile four conduit and dark fiber capacity infrastructure along the Authority`s Rights-Of-Way.
The communications infrastructure will support the Authority`s internal requirements for advanced voice, data and video communications and services, as well as provide incremental capacity for lease to a number of third party users.
Multimillion dollar deals like this are bringing some real excitement to the world of fiber-optic connectivity. As LIGHTWAVE champions new opportunities for fiber-optic telecommunications and network communications vendors to grow, we are pleased to offer something old and something new -- a bonus to LIGHTWAVE`s first quarter 1998 issues.
The January 1998 issue of LIGHTWAVE will include a very special mailing to an all government list of 2000 including data-communications, telecommunications, networking engineers, and engineering managers who are involved in education (something old) and transportation (something new).
As the new LIGHTWAVE publisher?s background includes three years in Government
IT communications working on Government Computer News, great care was taken to ensure the KNOWN QUALITY of the names selected.
OWe are very enthusiastic about our Bonus 2000 Program,O says Tim Pritchard, Publisher, LIGHTWAVE. OLaunching on the specially selected government list, it taps into millions of
public/private ventures to create and serve new fiber-optic networks.O AND as an extra bonus to the governent market, the January LIGHTWAVE will be distributed at COMNET! Watch for more news on our Bonus 2000 Program.
