The People?s Republic of China?s Jiangsu Province expects to build a fiber-optic network and a series of advanced information and communication facilities by 2010. The cable network would cover the entire province, and 25% of the population would receive training on computer use and information technology. The system is expected to serve government offices, public welfare, industry and agriculture, trade, finance, social security, and education services.
