Transmode designs JDSU tunable XFP transceiver into TM-Series and TS-Series WDM platforms
JANUARY 19, 2010 -- JDSU (NASDAQ: JDSU) (TSX: JDU) reveals that Transmode has incorporated JDSU tunable XFP transceiver technology into both its TM-Series and TS-Series WDM platforms.
Transmode offers a wide range of optical networking products based on WDM technology as well as a network management suite. The company’s TM-Series and TS-Series WDM platforms are designed to support all optical networking applications from the metro edge to regional and national networks in an economical platform which includes full ROADM switching and integrated Layer 2 Ethernet aggregation.
The JDSU tunable XFP transceiver is designed to provide a small, low-power, and pluggable transmission interface to convert network data streams between the electrical domain and the 10G optical domain.
"Transmode chose JDSU tunable XFP technology because it is the most advanced tunable XFP offering available today," said Mohamad Ferej, vice president of R&D at Transmode. "When incorporated into our WDM portfolio, it provides a leading edge interface solution for multi-protocol metro and regional applications."
"JDSU was able to customize and qualify the tunable XFP product in record time by closely partnering with the Transmode engineering team," said Sinclair Vass, senior director of EMEA business for the CCOP segment at JDSU.
