GigOptix HXT/R4 PMDs available for flip-chip assembly
JANUARY 11, 2010 -- GigOptix Inc. has announced the flip-chip version for all members of the HXT/R4 family of parallel PMDs.
GigOptix's parallel HXT/R4 PMDs, available in both 4- and 12-channel variants, have been validated for use at extended data rates, allowing them to support multiple applications ranging from 5 to 12.5 Gbps per channel. A robust design enables customers to find the optimum tradeoff between power dissipation for each optical link, as demonstrated by successfully running a 100-m link with less than 100 mW total power dissipation.
"Continuing in our efforts to provide our customers with best-in-class products and unparalleled value, we are today announcing the availability in volumes of the flip-chip version of our family of 10G parallel PMDs. These devices support the request from the market for ever increasing performance and assembly yield while reducing the cost of the optical interconnects," says Joerg Wieland, vice president and general manager of GigOptix-Helix. "Also, flip-chip technology is a further step in providing the best solutions in the market as data rates continue to rise."
GigOptix HXT/R4 PMDs have been qualified using commercial standards accepted by its telecom and datacom customers.
