APRIL 26, 2010 -- GigOptix, Inc. (OTC BB:GGOX) says it has begun shipping its 100G DP-QPSK driver to a Tier 1 Telecom OEM. The identity of the customer was not disclosed.

This milestone comes after more than two years of joint development by the GigOptix engineering team and the customer in developing the driver, which the company says is the first monolithic device available for the 100G DP-QPSK DWDM market.

Says Andrea Betti-Berutto, CTO of GigOptix, "We decided more than two years ago to align our 100G development with our customer’s requirements, and given our prior history of both providing high-performance solutions and delivering on our commitments, we were chosen as a preferred partner to deliver drivers into their 100G platform."

In its most recent report on 100G components, Ovum forecasted that the 100G DP-QPSK DWDM lineside market would launch in 2010 and grow to over 16000 units by 2015 with a CAGR of 140%.
