DFB laser source

HP 83430A directly modulated DFB laser source provides lightwave digital stimulus-response testing at rates to 2.5 Gbits/sec. It can be used as a reference transmitter for manufacturing applications that require an SDH/Sonet-compliant source. The instrument operates at 1550 nm. A 1310-nm model is also available. Eight other center wavelengths ranging from 1535 to 1560.5 nm are also available for use in dense WDM applications. The center wavelength can be temperature tuned to ۫.8 nm from the front panel. The unit can be modulated with a digital AC- or DC-coupled or analog AC-coupled signal. A front panel bias adjustment allows an extinction ratio performance from 8.2 to 13 dB.
