TE Connectivity TE 25G Active Optics Featuring Coolbit Optical Engines

March 17, 2015
The Coolbit Optical Engine converts data from electrical signals to optical signals and is the driving technology behind TE's 100G, 300G, and 400G active optics products, including the 100G QSFP28 transceiver, the 100GQSFP28 active optical cable assembly, 300G mid-board optical (MBO) module, and the 400G CDFP active optical cable assembly.
This product address the very short reach application which is very central with data centers, enabled by cutting-edge VCSEL technology that is not yet widely available across the industry. Judge's Comment.

This line of 25G active optics made with the Coolbit optical engine is designed to provide 60% power savings compared to existing solutions, TE says. For example, the QSFP28 transceiver and active optical cable assembly perform at less than 1.5 W per transceiver.
