10-Gbit/sec digital modulators are available in 1300- or 1550-nm wavelengths and by APE or Ti-indiffusion processes. The APE devices are chirp-free and have a near-perfect polarization-extinction ratio. Ti-indiffused modulators exhibit long-term bias point stability with a bias circuit and low insertion loss. They also feature positive and negative fixed chirp for dispersion compensation.
