MARCH 20, 2009 -- The Advanced Fiber Connectivity and Switching Forum (search Lightwave for AFCS Forum) will host a workshop at the OFC/NFOEC 2009 Conference & Exposition, held Mar. 23-26 at the San Diego Convention Center.
Organized by Glenn Wellbrock, director of optical transport network architecture and design at Verizon, the workshop will feature industry leaders discussing the benefits of automated fiber crossconnect technology for network operators. The workshop will be held on Monday, March 23, from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. (PDT) as part of the larger OFC/NFOEC workshop series at the Convention Center.
David Rapp, AFCS Forum president and fiber-optic program manager at ADC, will lead the workshop discussions with an overview of the AFCS Forum's initiatives and programs. Following the introduction, forum members will present new and emerging applications for automated fiber crossconnect technology. Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in the discussion.
