Applied Optoelectronics offers 100-Gbps optical transceiver line

Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. (NASDAQ:AAOI) will highlight a new range of data center 100-Gbps optical transceivers at OFC 2015 in Los Angeles. The modules include a multimode fiber QSFP28, a QSFP28 designed for PSM4 applications, and a single-fiber module designed to CLR4 applications in a QSFP+ optical module format. The multimode QSFP will be available as standalone devices as well as the endfaces for active optical cables (AOCs). The QSFP28 MSA SFF-8665 compliant device will support both InfiniBand EDR and IEEE 802.3bm Ethernet. It offers a power consumption <3.5 W (<7 W for the AOC variants). As its name implies the PSM4 QSFP28 complies with the parallel singlemode four-fiber MSA. It leverages four 1310-nm uncooled DFB lasers and offers a power consumption of <3.5 W. It operates from -5 to +70 degrees C. The single-fiber QSFP+ device also benefits from the use of four-channel CWDM uncooled DFB lasers. It complies with IEEE 802.3bm/100G-CLR4 specifications at a power consumption of <3.5 W. The module also operates from -5 to +70 degrees C. Multimode product samples are available now, with the PSM4 and CLR4 products expected to be available later this year, Applied Optoelectronics says.
