Variable attenuator

Variable attenuator

The voa-1516 variable optical attenuator has no moving parts and enables electronic control of signal attenuation from >-0.05 to -35 dB in optical fiber across the edfa band with minimal wavelength-dependent ripple, according to the manufacturer. Based on a side-polished architecture, the device features near-zero excess loss and backreflection. Dynamic range is >35 dB at 1550 nm and polarization dependence loss is <0.5 dB at -3-dB attenuation.
