Dispersion compensation module
Dispersion compensation module
The dcm-95 module provides -1700 psec/ nm of total dispersion for standard singlemode fiber span lengths beyond the traditional 80 km, according to the manufacturer. Designed to overcome the effects of chromatic dispersion in lightwave systems operating in the 1550-nm wavelength window, the module is used in long-haul telecommunications systems, cable TV, AM video links, and interoffice networks. Because the dispersion compensation is a linear passive technique, the module can be located at the transmitting end, receiving end, or at intermediate points along the network that is being upgraded.
