Highwave's amplifiers to be used by Mitsubishi

6 March 2003 -- Mitsubishi Electric is to use the optical amplifiers of Highwave Optical Technologies, based in Lannion, France, in its all-optical DWDM platform in inter-city metro-ring networks around Japan.

6 March 2003 -- Mitsubishi Electric Corp is to use the optical amplifiers of DWDM sub-system supplier Highwave Optical Technologies, which is based in Lannion, France.

Highwave will supply its latest generation of amplifiers, including its high-performance erbium-doped fibre and gain-flattening filters. The amplifiers will be deployed in inter-city metro-ring networks in Japan through Mitsubishi's all-optical DWDM platform.

"This contract is a major success for Highwave with an internationally established Japanese company," says Highwave's president and CEO Eric Delevaque. "We believe with Mitsubishi that this first contract will be the beginning of a long and fruitful partnership...The present phase of tougher competition allows most innovative companies to attract new customers, thus winning market share."
