The Megaplex-2000 time-division multiplexer integrates data, voice, fax and local area network onto T1, E1, digital data services, microwave or fiber-optic links through four optional main link modules. These modules eliminate the need for external channel service units and fiber-optic modems. The main link module supports 850- or 1300-nm singlemode or multimode fiber and operates to 12 miles without repeaters. The multiplexer supports 62 time slots in a single chassis. Ten modules can be placed in a chassis, providing 40 high-speed data channels, 100 low-speed data channels or 55 voice circuits. An optional expansion chassis provides nine additional input/output modules. The unit is controlled by a PC-based system connected to the V.24 supervisory port. A menu-driven management system supports different data and voice configurations with full control and monitoring of 100 multiplexers. Alarm status and system configurations are available through the management system. For critical point-to-point configurations, two redundant modules can be connected in parallel to a single link, or each module can be connected to a separate link.
