Summary
AI is no longer experimental, it powers critical operations from autonomous driving to healthcare diagnostics. But while GPUs capture headlines, the real bottleneck is the network.
AI workloads generate massive, deterministic, and latency-sensitive traffic flows that overwhelm legacy packet-switched architectures, which introduce jitter, congestion, and unpredictable latency. This session explores how open, standards-based DWDM and OTN backbones provide the predictable, jitter-free, encrypted, and high-capacity transport required for parallel compute synchronization, real-time inference, and federated learning. Drawing on insights from PacketLight’s AI Infrastructure at Scale white paper and Optical Core Readiness presentation, we’ll show how to build networks that scale from data center interconnect to ultra-long-haul while ensuring real-time decisioning, security, and efficiency.
