Digital Lightwave launches single app to control, monitor embedded test devices
April 7, 2005 Clearwater, FL -- Digital Lightwave, a provider of optical networking technology and test instruments, has added features to its remote network test software package used to optimize high-speed network performance. The company says the features enable network providers to monitor and manage multiple devices from a centralized network operations center (NOC).
The company notes that the software's application programming interface (API) enables integration with proprietary operations support system (OSS) platforms.
"We've brought the functionality of OSS monitoring and device management to our network embedded device platforms through an easy-to-use, single software interface," affirms Doyle Mills, director of product marketing for Digital Lightwave. "Our evolution in new product and software functionality allows a complete system-style offering to our customers serving converging telecom and datacom markets."
The company's embedded products include its Network Information Computer, Embedded Platform (NIC EP), Network Access Agent (NAA IV), and Optical Wavelength Manager (OWM). The devices can be equipped with test interfaces for SONET, SDH, Ethernet, ATM, and DWDM, in order to support all common network interfaces.
According to the company, while its individual platforms have traditionally been provided with remote control user interface software, the new software features enable integration of all its products into a coherent system controlled through a single user interface, thereby making it easier to turn up new circuits, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot.
