JULY 19, 2010 -- JDSU (NASDAQ: JDSU) (TSX: JDU) has announced three new 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) testing tools designed to accelerate the development, verification, benchmarking, and interoperability testing of next-generation converged Ethernet networks with emerging Data Center Bridging (DCB) and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) technology.

The Xgig High Density 10 GbE Load Tester Solution builds on JDSU’s storage area network (SAN) test portfolio with a new tool for the LAN and converged 10GbE Ethernet network environment. According to JDSU, the tool’s benefits include:

  • 32 ports in a single 3U chassis, nearly 4X the density compared to previous generations of load testers and the highest density in the industry, JDSU asserts
  • reduced cost while providing comprehensive test capabilities for large, complex networks
  • support for Layer 2-3 testing of 10GbE converged Ethernet networks
  • automated testing and benchmarking according to industry standards to accelerate equipment qualification and time-to-market.

JDSU also has introduced the Xgig 10 GbE Delay Emulator and the Medusa Labs Test Tools (MLTT) Suite version 4.0 for its 10GbE portfolio. The Delay Emulator is designed to accurately measure the impact of long fiber runs on network latency and performance with advanced delay capabilities and easy configuration. MLTT 4.0 now offers support for TCP applications, making MLTT the first software-based commercial analysis and benchmarking tool to provide accurate visibility into SAN, LAN, and converged Ethernet network performance while operating at line rate, JDSU asserts.
