Luna Innovations offers 6415 Lightwave Component Analyzer
Luna Innovations Inc. (NASDAQ: LUNA) has unveiled the 6415 Lightwave Component Analyzer, the first example of what the company asserts will be a new generation of high-performance, high-resolution analyzer products. As the name implies, the 6415 aims to support the development and manufacturing of high-speed optical components and, by extension, networks.
The company asserts the 6415 helps reduce design cycle times and increase manufacturing throughput through its speed, accuracy, functionality, and ease of integration. These benefits derive, at least in part, from the instrument’s integrated tunable laser, which obviates the need for multiple test systems. The 6415 measures and analyzes insertion loss (IL) and return loss (RL) distribution, as well as length, working in either reflection or transmission. The unit offers 20-μm spatial sampling resolution.
“Today’s extreme expansion in communications bandwidth and capacity depends on rapid advancements in fiber optic component and network technology. A high-speed, economical, and scalable optical network is the backbone of our communications infrastructure and forms the basis for everything from cloud computing to ultra-fast 5G mobile networking,” Scott Graeff, president and CEO of Luna Innovations, said. “The 6415 gives our customers the power to develop, test, and manufacture the next-generation optical network components that fuel this global demand for bandwidth.”
