Anritsu Co. and engineering services and test offerings company Granite River Labs (GRL) have collaborated to create an integrated approach to receiver and jitter tolerance tests on high-speed devices. The combined offering includes Anritsu's MP1800A BERT Signal Quality Analyzer (SQA) and GRL software that simplifies calibration.
The combined test and measurement offering also incorporates a noise signal source, variable ISI channel, and real-time oscilloscope. It is designed to help technicians perform highly accurate evaluations on PCIe Gen4, 100GbE, InfiniBand and other high-speed serial interfaces.
GRL's GRL-PCIE4-BASE-RXA calibration/receiver test software automates calibration of the test signal and simplifies jitter tolerance tests, the companies say. The software supports one-button jitter tolerance tests for PCIe-Gen4 Rev 0.5 devices, as well as highly reproducible test-signal calibration and receiver tests. It also automatically controls variable ISI channels and calibrates eye openings. All reports are saved as PDF documents.
The MP1800A SQA features a built-in pulse pattern generator (PPG) that generates high-quality, high-amplitude signals. It features an intrinsic jitter of 275 fs rms (nominal) and offers outputs up to 3.5 Vp-p. An error detector (ED) with what Anritsu asserts is the highest input sensitivity in the industry is integrated in the MP8100A chassis as well.
Various jitter types, such as SJ, RJ, BUJ, SSC, can be generated using the built-in jitter modulation source. Wide-amplitude SJ up to 1 UI at a jitter frequency of 250 MHz is generated by the source, ensuring sufficient margin for receiver jitter tolerance tests, Anritsu concludes.
