EXFO offers iSAM Ethernet service activation testing
Test and measurement systems developer EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO, TSX: EXF) has unveiled iSAM, which it describes as an intelligent service activation methodology designed to accelerate and simplify to Ethernet/IP services and MEF-compliant services testing.
Based on the ITU-T Y.1564 and RFC 6349 standards, iSAM provides fully automated testing of all Ethernet services from Gigabit Ethernet to 100 Gigabit Ethernet, as well as end-to-end validation of Layer 2/3 and TCP Layer 4 services, EXFO says. The application uses a three-step approach that removes the complexity of validating and activating Ethernet services, thus reducing test times by a factor of 10 versus today's typical test methodologies, the company asserts. It also delivers repeatable and consistent testing processes.
The result is lower opex and faster time-to-revenue, the company concludes. iSAM is available across EXFO's entire Ethernet testing portfolio for all rates up to 100G.

This industry-first application was created in response to studying real-world Ethernet/IP network deployments, and working closely with service providers across the world to understand their challenges," said Claudio Mazzuca, vice-president of EXFO's Transport and Service Assurance Division.
EXFO plans to demonstrate iSAM at GEN15 in Dallas, TX, November 16-19.
