GL Communication offers LightSpeed1000 OC-3/12 and STM-1/4 Analysis and Emulation Platform for channelized and unchannelized applications

GL Communications Inc. has launched the LightSpeed1000 OC-3/12 and STM-1/4 Analysis and Emulation Platform. The platform, which comprises a PCIe card and USB pod, offers wire-speed processing in support of such functions as BERT, recording, playback, and monitoring for channelized embedded T3s, E3s, T1s, and E1s as well as unchannelized Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) and Packet over SONET (PoS).

GL Communications Inc. has launched the LightSpeed1000 OC-3/12 and STM-1/4 Analysis and Emulation Platform. The platform, which comprises a PCIe card and USB pod, offers wire-speed processing in support of such functions as BERT, recording, playback, and monitoring for channelized embedded T3s, E3s, T1s, and E1s as well as unchannelized Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) and Packet over SONET (PoS).

The hardware also comes with the necessary software to enable capturing, monitoring, emulating, and analyzing protocols over SONET/SDH links at a favorable price point, according to GL Communications CEO Vijay Kulkarni. It will support channelized SONET and SDH mapping of T1/E1 framed signals, offering direct access to all 336 T1 (or 252 E1) channels on an OC-12/STM-4 line per port, he adds. The fact that any of the T1/E1 or DS0 test requirements can be met without resorting to electrical access is a significant benefit of the LightSpeed1000, Kulkarni asserts.

“A unique feature of the card is the capability to capture, transmit and process at wirespeed to/from applications and hard disk on all interfaces. An API Toolkit allows users to develop specialized applications,” he adds.

In addition to use as a standalone instrument, the LightSpeed1000 OC-3/12 and STM-1/4 Analysis and Emulation Platform can be housed within the company’smTOP™ 1U/2U rack mount enclosures for expanded test requirements.

GL Communications offers a pair of OC-3/STM-1 and OC-12/STM-4 analyzer cards:

  1. Quad OC-3/STM-1 and OC-12/STM-4 PCI-Express card (Windows 10, 64-bit is supported), in which two ports out of the four ports are dedicated to SONET/SDH unchannelized data. The remaining two ports are meant for SONET/SDH channelized data carrying many independent unframed/framed T1, E1, T3, and E3 streams.
  2. Portable OC-3/STM-1 and OC-12/STM-4 Unit (Windows 10, 64-bit is supported) offers four optical ports, of which the first two are unchannelized and the last port is used for Gigabit Ethernet.
