Auxora’s 400-GHz Channel Spacing nWDM Filter Block is designed to help customers improve longer distance transmission. The traditional LAN-WDM has four wavelengths, 1295.56 nm, 1300.05 nm, 1304.58 nm, and 1309.14 nm, with channel spacing of 800 GHz. Due to the physical characteristics of optical fiber transmission, the former two wavelength channels cause high dispersion, especially when the data rate is high, such as 4×100 Gbps, 4x200 Gbps, or 4x400 Gbps, where dispersion over 20 to 30 km transmission cannot be ignored. In designing the nWDM (where “n” stands for “narrowband), Auxora discarded the first two wavelengths and added 1306.85 nm and 1311.43 nm to form a new four-wavelength group. The four wavelengths are all very close to the 1310-nm zero dispersion wavelength of the fiber, which can effectively improve dispersion.

Judge’s Comment: “This is a good subsystem improvement and allows ER4-type optics to reach about twice as far as normal standard wavelengths. This might lead to an improved standard.”
