SiFotonics Technologies’ 8x100G-ER1-nWDM QSFP28 Optical Transceivers were developed to address increasing high-bandwidth needs for access and aggregation networks from 5G xHaul, enterprise networking, and connection to cloud. The core technology is the high-sensitivity SiFotonics 53-Gbaud-capable Ge/Si APD receiver that enables extending 100G-PAM4 applications to 40-km reach. Each transceiver uses one of the eight wavelengths from 1295 to 1311 nm with 400-GHz channel spacing so passive WDM can be used to achieve 8x100G over one pair of fiber or 4x100G over single fiber directionally. The product also enables passive WDM add/drop applications.

Judge’s Comment: “This solution is ahead of the 100G rollout of 5G mobile fronthaul, but will be needed in the near future. It may also be used for DCI. This 40-km solution is one of the few longer-reach ones available.”
