Telco Systems said that it will develop service-ready uCPE and NFV Edge products based on a strategic investment and joint development agreement with semiconductor IP supplier Arm. Telco Systems will collaborate with Arm's technical team in a multi-year development program that includes the productization of existing prototypes for uCPE devices.

The focus will be on further development of uCPE prototypes based on NXP and Marvell system-on-chips (SoCs) as well as upgraded, service-ready uCPE and NFV Edge offerings. The development of performance acceleration services that use Arm and its SoC vendors' experience, VNF containerization, and cybersecurity services based on Arm TrustZone will also be a focus, says Telco Systems. The new services will be a foundation for future Arm-based edge compute, IoT, and MEC technology as well.

Telco Systems and Arm will work together to launch and promote the uCPE and NFV edge services to the market. This technology partner ecosystem will include VNF and hardware vendors and will aim to meet the needs of Tier 1 service providers and network operators. The Arm-NFVTime ecosystem will provide VNF and whitebox vendors with new business opportunities, develop competitive differentiators, and enhance performance as well, Telco Systems asserts.

"After of successful collaboration with Arm, we are excited to now announce this significant investment and development deal to bring to market new uCPE and NFV Edge solution and drive the execution of Arm's strategy for the telecommunications networking infrastructure market," said Ariel Efrati, Telco Systems CEO. "We are already experiencing strong demand for our NFVTime solution running on Arm architecture and we have strong expectations that our new solutions will attract great interest, especially from Tier 1 service providers in North America and other developed markets."

Telco Systems' NFV experience includes introducing the CloudMetro 10, a Gigabit Ethernet virtualization platform designed to aid the transition to SDN and NFV in 2016 (see "Telco Systems offers CloudMetro 10 vCPE platform").
