Nokia continued to rearrange its executive leadership structure with the creation of a new Access Networks Division that will begin operations January 1, 2019. The division will oversee the Mobile Networks and Fixed Networks business groups under the leadership of an as yet unannounced individual.

As part of the announcement, made on Thanksgiving, November 22, Nokia revealed that Tommi Uitto will be the new president of Mobile Networks. The 23-year Nokia veteran, who previously led Mobile Networks Product Sales, will replace current Mobile Networks President Marc Rouanne, who will leave the company. Nokia still has not named a new Fixed Networks president to replace Federico Guillén, who will leave that post to become president of customer operations, EMEA & Asia, on January 1 (see “Nokia names Corker, Guillén regional directors; Chowdhary to depart”).

"Nokia has a unique advantage in the 5G era with its end-to-end portfolio," said Nokia President and CEO Rajeev Suri. "By creating a single Access Networks organization that includes both fixed and mobile, we can improve our customer focus, simplify our management structure, and more efficiently leverage our full portfolio."
