Consolidated Communications(NASDAQ:CNSL) is launching 1 Gbps broadband services to more than 12,000 Nashua, NH, residential and small business locations. The service will use the company's fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) technology.

"We're excited to bring Nashua users Internet speeds that are among the fastest in the nation," said Rob Koester, vice president of consumer product management at Consolidated Communications. "1 Gig broadband Internet access will deliver a wider selection of services and programming, and also has the potential to transform the quality of Nashua residents' lives. It will give residents the speeds they need to enjoy the latest in streaming video applications or virtual reality, and help businesses more efficiently access the cloud. We're thrilled to deliver all of these benefits and more by improving the broadband experience for this community."

"Reliable connectivity and faster Internet speeds are critical infrastructure ingredients for a technology-based economy like we have in Nashua," said Tim Cummings, economic development director for the city of Nashua. "This service will help the community grow and thrive. Residents and employers will be able to experience faster Internet and improved functionality thanks to Consolidated Communications. We appreciate their efforts."

Nashua customers also have access to on-demand streaming video.

Last year, the company completed a broadband upgrade project to deliver faster speeds to 500,000 residents and small businesses throughout northern New England.

In other Consolidated Communications news, the company has expanded its back office BSS/OSS partnership with Netcracker Technology for its enterprise services line of business.

Consolidated will leverage new digital BSS capabilities from Netcracker and will upgrade the Netcracker OSS solutions it is already using, including Netcracker's Resource Inventory, Service Inventory, Service Order Management and ASR Gateway. The operator will also leverage new Netcracker digital BSS offerings, including Customer Order Management, Customer Information Management and Product Catalog solutions.

Following its acquisition of FairPoint Communications in 2017, Consolidated Communications is undergoing a transformation to consolidate applications and systems in order to minimize customizations and enable catalog-driven order processing.

"Our previous experience with Netcracker made upgrading our use of its solutions an easy choice, enabling us to continue using a platform that we're familiar with while incorporating additional functionality," said John Lunny, chief information officer at Consolidated Communications. "By standardizing customer-focused capabilities across our back office systems, we can harness new functionality to deliver a superior experience."
