ARRIS (NASDAQ:ARRS) has introduced CORTEX clustering software technology for its ConvergeMedia solution, utilizing the XMS Flex Distribution Platforms with Streaming Media Engine (SME) 5.3.1 and Ad Control Manager (ACM) 3.0 software releases. CORTEX, which is part of the XMS operating system, is designed to consolidate ad insertion infrastructure into centralized, expandable systems.The software is designed to enable loosely coupled ConvergeMedia XMS Flex servers to operate as a single, load-sharing, logical system. It uses standard GigE networking components and protocols and is optimized to operate with the XMS COTS platform. It supports dynamic content management and load balancing, as well as hardware failure isolation and automatic recovery from one or more node failures.
