Seaborn Networks y Alcatel-Lucent han comenzado la construcción del sistema de fibra óptica Seabras-1 entre EE. UU. y Brasil. El sistema comprende seis pares de fibra con una capacidad inicial máxima de 60 terabits por segundo. Incluye la Terminal Central Submarina 1620 Light Manager de Alcatel-Lucent con tecnología coherente de avanzada. Tiene capacidad para longitudes de onda de 100G en la misma plataforma.

Por otra parte, Microsoft ha celebrado un acuerdo para capacidad de red de fibra óptica en Seabras-1. Las compañías de servicios de nube necesitan mayor capacidad entre ambos continentes para poder desarrollar su infraestructura, dice Seaborn.
