Mid-Hudson Cablevision marks FTTH broadband upgrade in Upstate New York

April 5, 2023
Mid-Hudson affirmed the company continues to fully fund the multimillion-dollar fiber network construction project that will bring symmetrical multi-gig internet speeds to area residents and businesses.

Mid-Hudson Cablevision announced it has substantially upgraded its current fiber network throughout the operaotor's Upstate New York service area in Greene, Columbia and Southern Albany Counties with next-generation fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband services.

Mid-Hudson affirmed the company continues to fully fund the multimillion-dollar fiber network construction project that will bring symmetrical multi-gig internet speeds to area residents and businesses.

Mid-Hudson Cablevision provides broadband services to customers through its high speed fiber-optic and cable networks. The company’s services include: broadband internet, video and voice.

Mid-Hudson has been in business servicing the above areas for the last 52 years. The company owns an extensive network covering approximately 1,500 miles and servicing 30,000 subscribers.

“Mid-Hudson has always prioritized the enhancement, quality and availability of the most advanced technology and we could not be more pleased on the improvement and growth of our fiber network. Our goal has always been to provide fast, reliable and secure broadband services to the areas we service and now this will continue with FTTH.” said James Reynolds, president of Mid-Hudson Cablevision. “We look forward to this significant development for the communities we serve.”

The company said its network conversion is well underway in all parts of the footprint and that Mid-Hudson will continue to build redundant and geographically diverse core network facilities to ensure services will remain fast, reliable and secure.

In a press release, the company stated:

"This upgrade brings a future-proof fiber-to-the-home network to all of our current and future customers. Fiber enables multi-gigabit internet access with symmetrical upload and download speeds. All Mid-Hudson customers will have the ability to convert to FTTH with no installation fees and will instantly see a significant increase to their internet speeds without a cost increase."

“Mid-Hudson’s fiber network has been growing exponentially over the last couple of years, especially after the onset of Covid-19. We are proud to continue this growth in our existing market. Mid-Hudson has garnered healthy relationships within the community over the past 52 years and we know this significant investment will help drive further economic development in this area,” said the company's Director of Community Relations and Planning, Rachel Puckett.
