Metronet deploys symmetrical, multi-gigabit fiber broadband to Bryan, Texas

Residents and businesses in Bryan, Texas are the first in the state to have access to Metronet’s symmetrical, multi-gigabit bandwidth speeds up to 10 gigabits.

On Oct. 31 Metronet announced that residents and businesses in Bryan, Texas are the first in the state to have access to Metronet’s symmetrical, multi-gigabit bandwidth speeds up to 10 gigabits, with service installation now available.

In addition to Metronet’s current service offerings of 1 gigabit per second, speeds up to 2 gigabits are now available for Bryan residents, and businesses may choose speeds up to 10 gigabits.

Kris Smith, government affairs director for Metronet, commented:

“Metronet is excited to officially deploy access to multi-gigabit speeds in Texas with Bryan as the first community to tap into Metronet’s 100 percent fiber-optic network. The City of Bryan is now supported by a future-proof infrastructure that has the ability to scale to even faster speeds, enhancing the online experience for residents while also having a direct positive impact on Bryan’s continued growth and economic development.”

As construction continues throughout Bryan, residents in construction areas will receive 30 days advance notice by mail about construction activity in their neighborhood. Metronet provides additional messaging, such as yard signs, to notify residents of when construction is beginning in their neighborhood. Metronet crews are marked by ID tags and branded vehicles.
